The website was created to implement Danube SKILLS, a project financed by the European Union from Operational Programmes (ERDF, IPA). 

The main objective behind the Danube Logistics Promotion Centre (DPLC) in Slovakia is to provide useful information and databases for developing inland waterway transport. In Slovakia, the DLPC is supposed to link public and private inland waterway transport companies, focusing on the following information:

  • Fairways on the Danube waterway
  • Ports on the Slovakian side of the Danube waterway
  • Shipping, transport and freight forwarding companies
  • Schemes financed from European Union funds
  • Promising logistics markets
  • Logistics support

Specific objective 4.1: Improve institutional capacities to tackle major societal challenges

Project duration: 30 months (January 2017 – June 2019) 

Project budget: € 2,023,100

Co-financing rates: 85% ERDF, IPA and 15% State Budget

Main objective of Danube SKILLS:

  • Increasing the institutional capacity for inland navigation in the Danube region by promoting common transnational competences and skills in education and development of public services
  • Creating public institutions responsible for navigation training and certification appropriate for implementing common European standards
  • Establishing public institutions responsible for developing navigation on the Danube adopted to provide services for actively encouraging growth in the modal share of environmentally friendly inland waterway transport on the Danube and to be the single contact point for Danube logistics
  • Setting up institutional (sector-wide) capacity-building cooperation in order to improve legal and political frameworks for promoting navigation and waterway qualifications.

The project consortium includes 22 partners involved in education, training and the inland waterway sector. Other partners are public authorities, nongovernmental organisations and international associations from Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania, as well as associated strategic partners from France, Hungary, Croatia, Czech Republic, The Netherlands and Belgium.
